Original Constitution of the NSG

 

1. That the object of this group, be the furtherence of the knowledge of fish and fisheries, and the capture of specimen fish.

2. That this group shall make every effort to protect the future of angling in this country from abstraction, pollution, and the ignorance of the non-angling public.

3. That any change in this constitution, or any ammendments, or any additions, must be put to the secretary in writing, 7 days prior to the A.G.M.

4. That all applications regarding new members be held over until the following A.G.M.

5. That the A.G.M. be held on the first Thursday following the close of the coarse fish season.

6. That all new members shall hold a probationary period of twelve months, before being accepted into the group as a full member.

7. That all prospective members must receive at least 5 votes before being accepted into the group for the probationary period.

8. That any probationary member failing in some way to forfill his obligation to the group, or not showing that he has the ability, or having given another member cause to have complained to the chairman of his (the probationary) actions or attitude, then the secretary on the instructions of the chairman shall call a meeting and place before the members the facts concerning the probationaries actions or defaults. After which a straight vote will be taken to ascertain the membership of the probationary.

9. If any full member shall give the group cause to expel him, then a meeting shall be called and the members shall take a straight vote to ascertain the members future membership.

10. That no meeting of the group shall be started without there being one-third of the members present.

11. That no vote shall be taken without there being two-thirds of the members present.

12. That if as laid down in rule 11, there are not the required number of members present for a vote, then the chairman or vice-chairman shall be empowered to co-opt 3 members along with the secretary to vote in the matter of an emergency.

13. That the meetings be held every 3 weeks.

14. That the first hour be devoted to group business, and the remainder of the evening open for discussion.

15. That the subscriptions be 2/6d per meeting, or payable once a year, as the member wishes.

16. All members must be paid up members by the start of the A.G.M. i.e. the scheduled start as laid down in the rules.

17. That the A.G.M. start at 7.30pm.
