1975
All the sea fish, except a 2lb 4oz mackeral caught by Roy Brown, were caught
by Mike Prorak during a week's holiday in September. Going out of Brixham on
'Our Unity' he caught four group records: Ling 20lb 4oz, Pollack 15lb 4oz, Conger
31lb 8oz and Black Bream 3lb 8oz. He also caught four other double figure pollack
to 14lb 3oz.
1976
Only two fish were reported, a fine bass of 12lb for Bob Draper from Portmadoc
and a 20lb cod for Pete Dobbs.
1977
Sea fish reported included a 19lb 6oz Turbot and a 56lb Conger caught by Bob
Reed out of Weymouth and a 15lb 9oz Bull Huss caught by Mike Prorok from Tenby.
All these fish set new group records.
1978
Only three sea fish were reported. Bob Reed caught a thornback ray weighing
14lb and a bass of 6lb out of Deal. The other was a 5lb 8oz cod caught by Roger
Baker.
1979
Only one sea fish was reported: a 14lb 8oz cod caught by Bob Reed out of Deal.
1980
Roger Baker caught all the sea fish reported. Fishing out of Bradwell he caught
cod to 5lb 8oz, skate to 5lb, thornbacks to 5lb 8oz and bass of 7lb and 6lb
12oz.
1981
John Snelson caught all the sea reported. In August fishing out of Plymouth
he set new group records with a cod weighing 28lb and a ling of 33lb. In May
whilst on holiday in Miami he caught various exotics including a lemon shark
of 100lb and a black-tip shark weighing 125lb. I wonder if he knew what he had
caught.
1982
Roy Brown reported a ling weighing 18lb, a 15lb conger eel, an 8lb pollack and
a 3lb wrasse on a trip out of Mevagissey in Cornwall.
John Snelson reported the only other sea fish: a 14lb bull huss.
1983
Dave Allen and Pete Gathercole caught most of the sea fish reported. Dave had
a very successful trip out of Falmouth, catching 300lb+ of fish including conger
eel (32½lb), ling (22lb), monkfish (18lb), as well as mackeral, pouting
and red bream.
On an Irish sea-fishing trip Pete Gathercole caught a mixed bag of fish including
thornback ray (13lb), homlyn ray (5lb), cod (11lb+) and pollack (9lb+).
Tony Harrison caught a ballan wrasse weighing 5lb 8oz off the rocks while on
holiday on Cornwall.
1984
Tony Harrison reported catching a fine pair of bass weighing 7lb 4oz and 5lb
8oz.
Bob Reed caught a fine 4lb mullet from the River Leven.
